So why would you need a device like that? [Mar. 12th, 2009|12:49 pm]

Imagine this: you’re cycling downhill at 60km/hr, your head tucked nicely between your shoulders in perfect aerodynamic position. You sight for the far end of the slope, and begin to pedal. Suddenly a van turns out from your left and all you remember is hitting it.

Or this: It’s the annual sale at the Expo and the crowded hall is filled to capacity. You hold your little girls’ hand tightly as you trudge along forward. Suddenly someone bumps into you, and you turn back to see who the inconsiderate person was. And then you realise it – you’re not longer holding her hand.

Touch wood, my friends, but such situations do happen. And if you were to be the one in either of these scenarios, wouldn’t it be better if you had some form of identification on you? I know I would. I’d like something that first responders can have easy access to; something that would catch their eye, and has vital information other than my name and identification number. Blood type. Drug allergies. My next-of-kin’s number. Anything that would help, really.

Of course, you could carry a card with all these information. A laminated one too, perhaps. But those who perspire a whole lot like me will know that sweat pervades in mysterious ways – sooner or later your card will look like the remnants of the powergel you just took, and surely that’s not the point. Something then, for you to consider: the IDBand

Carpe Diem,
Ben.
